Degrassi Junior High is a Canadian teen drama television series created by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood. It is the second entry of the Degrassi television franchise after The Kids Of Degrassi Street and aired on the CBC from 18 January 1987 to 27 February 1989, and on PBS in the United States starting from September 1987. The series follows those who attend the titular fictional school and the issues they face.

  • In the first episode, Degrassi High: Kiss Me, Steph (1987), as Ms. Avery is taking attendance, one of the twins, later known as Heather and Erica, is referred to as "Stacy".
  • Almost everybody went into Grade 9, at Degrassi Junior High, except for Joey, because he spent too much time with his band and lesser time on his studies.
  • Wheels didn't need to wear glasses until the beginning of Season 2 (Degrassi High: A Helping Hand... (1988)), where he couldn't see things, as was Neil Hope in real-life.
  • Neil Hope, who played Derek "Wheels" Wheeler, had to play a teenager who loses his parents in a car accident, in real-life, Hope lost his father a couple of months prior to shooting the funeral scene and struggled to keep from crying throughout.
  • Earl Grey Senior Public School was used in the third season as Borden High School where the grade 9 students went to take their science classes. In real life many of the actors attended classes there and creator Linda Schuyler had taught there. The cafeteria was used in the episode Degrassi High: Season's Greetings (1988).
