Queen Katherine: You have not answered my nephew's letters. King Henry VIII: Just because your nephew's the King of Spain. Does he think I have nothing better to do? Queen Katherine: You know he advises you to sign a treaty with the Emperor, recognizing France as our mutual enemy. He also advises you not to heed everything Wolsey tells you, because Wolsey is so biased with the French. King Henry VIII: Since when are you a diplomat? Queen Katherine: I am my father's daughter. King Henry VIII: [Grabbing Katherine tightly by her wrist] You are my WIFE. You are not my Minister, you are not my Chancellor, but my wife.
  • In the series, Charles Brandon's fourth wife, Catherine Brook, is depicted as a Catholic and supporter of Catherine of Aragon. In real life, her name was Catherine Willoughby and she was a Protestant and strong supporter of Anne Boleyn. She even fled England during Mary's reign for fear of persecution.
  • Actors Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alan Van Sprang both portray Valentine Morgenstern in the film and tv series based on The Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare; Jonathan in the film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Alan in the tv series Shadowhunters
  • Gillian Anderson was considered for the role of Katherine Parr before producers settled on Joely Richardson.
  • The show makes it seem there is a several year jump between seasons 3 and 4 judging by the changes in appearance of Henry VIII and Charles Brandon. Both have significantly more grey hair and look much older. In reality the time between the seasons would have been a month or two at most. Elizabeth also seems to have aged a few years from the last season going from around age 8 to around 12 or 13.
  • There are a surprising number of significant characters in The Tudors named Thomas. These include Thomas Wolsey, Thomas More, Thomas Wyatt, Thomas Tallis, Thomas Cromwell and Thomas Seymour. Plus Thomas Seymour's son Thomas, fathered during his affair with his brother's wife.
