Charles Adams Claverie was born August 28, 1949, in Bangor, Maine, USA. Known professionally as Charles Rocket, he was a film, television, and voice actor, as well as a musician. He made his network television debut on Saturday Night Live in 1980. His diverse acting credits include: Richard Addison on the television series Moonlighting; Reno in the movie Down Twisted; Grossberg on the cult TV series Max Headroom; Lieutenant Elgin in the acclaimed film Dances With Wolves; Dave Dennison, Dadcula in Disney's Hocus Pocus; Nicholas Andre in Dumb and Dumber; Sam in the 1998 short film Dry Martini; Nym, in the video game Star Wars: Starfighter; bad guy Bart in the 2000 short film Tex, the Passive-Aggressive Gunslinger; and Adam, an angel of death, on Touched by an Angel.

Sadly, Charles took his own life on October 7, 2005, at the age of 56.

  • Why the name Rocket? In People Magazine in 1981, Charles Rocket was quoted as saying, "Someone gave me the name during the space-age days of the '60s, and it stuck."
  • Charles Rocket became an ordained minister. He performed the wedding of Nancy Sheppard and Joe Pantoliano in 1994.
  • Charles Rocket was an accomplished accordion player. He played on the 1982 B-52s EP Mesopotamia, which was produced by fellow RISD alum David Byrne.
