His work spans screen and stage, and his awards include six Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1993, and has been honored with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2013, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2020, and was recognized as a Disney Legend in 1998.

  • In March 2023, Dick was involved in an accident after he crashed his car into a gate in Los Angeles. He was reportedly behind the wheel of a 2018 Lexus LS 500 and lost control of his car after sliding on the road due to heavy rainfall and later crashed into the gate. He was found bleeding from the nose and mouth and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
  • In May 2021, he was honored at the 2021 Kennedy Center Honors ceremony for his contribution to the arts.
  • In 2014, his career-defining role of Robert Petrie in The Dick Van Dyke Show was included at #22 in the list of ’50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time’ by TV Guide.
