Kay: Bye Frankie! And I hope the Oscar keeps you warm on cold nights! Frankie: Yeah, go on and run! You're too stupid to understand!
  • This film is listed among the Top Ten Best Bad Movies of All Time in Golden Raspberry Award Foundation founder John Wilson's book THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE MOVIE GUIDE.
  • Final film of James Dunn.
  • The Richard Sale novel on which this film is based followed Frank Fane as he systematically ruined the chances of his four fictitious Oscar rivals. In the movie, the other four Best Actor nominees are actual Hollywood stars, "nominated" as Best Actor for fictitious film titles.
  • Merle Oberon, seen presenting Best Actor in this film's Academy Awards sequence, would, according to Oscar tradition, never have been asked to do so at an actual 1960s Oscar ceremony. Although she was nominated as Best Actress of 1935, she never won an Oscar - and tradition holds that Best Actor and Best Actress are presented each year by the previous year's winner in the category honoring the opposite sex.
  • Set designer Hal Pereira appears at a party that Frankie goes to full of other Paramount people.
