- Maya Rudolph's 2nd animated film, just 2 weeks after The Emoji Movie (2017) released.
- Tom Kenny's second animated sequel despite not saying a single line in the entire film.
- In The Nut Job (2014), Surly and Andie share a platonic relationship as seen with the two sharing a hug in the end of the last film, but in this film, Surly and Andie share a quick kiss and even hold hands (or paws) around the end of film.
- This will be Jackie Chan's first animated film that isn't a Kung Fu Panda film. However, his character, Mr. Feng, does indeed do Kung Fu, a nod to his character Monkey in Kung Fu Panda (2008), Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), and Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016), respectively.
- In this sequel, the nut shop is called, "Nibbler's Nuts". In the previous film, _The Nut Job (2014)_, the shop is called, "Maury's Nuts". It's possible that the last name of Lana, King's girlfriend, is Nibbler.
