The Long Home is an unreleased indie drama film directed by and starring James Franco, based on the novel of the same title by William Gay. It also stars Josh Hutcherson, Tim Blake Nelson, Courtney Love, Timothy Hutton, Giancarlo Esposito, Ashton Kutcher, Josh Hartnett, Zoe Levin, Analeigh Tipton, Scott Haze, and Robin Lord Taylor. Principal photography began on May 1, 2015.

- James Franco previously directed Josh Hutcherson previously in the film In Dubious Battle. It was during the shooting of this film that Franco showed Hutcherson the script for The Long Home and offered him the lead role.
- This will be the fourth time James Franco and Josh Hartnett have starred together.
- Both Josh Hartnett and Ashton Kutcher auditioned for the role of Cpt. Danny Walker in 'Pearl Harbor' (2001), which Hartnett ultimately won.
