Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a 2021 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the character Shang-Chi. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 25th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, from a screenplay he wrote with Dave Callaham and Andrew Lanham, and stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi alongside Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, Ben Kingsley, and Tony Leung. In the film, Shang-Chi is forced to confront his past when his father Wenwu (Leung), the leader of the Ten Rings organization, draws Shang-Chi and his sister Xialing (Zhang) into a search for a mythical village.

Trevor Slattery: Riding horses? I did. Yes. When, in fact, they were simply acting as if they were riding horses. I still can't get my head round it, to be honest.
Katy: Good for you, dude. You found your passion and went for it, and eventually used it to cripple the US government, but whatever.

- The song "A Whole New World" sung by Katy and Shang-Chi in a karaoke clearly foreshadows their journey in Ta Lo, the song was in the Disney's Aladdin (1992). Awkwafina will be in the upcoming Disney live-action remake of The Little Mermaid (2023) as the voice of the seagull Scuttle.
- Lewis Tan auditioned for the part of Shang-Chi.
- Development for the film increased rapidly after the success of Crazy Rich Asians (2018).
- Fala Chen auditioned shortly after finishing her studies at the Juilliard School.
- In the mid-credits scene, Wong transports Shang-Chi and Katy to Kamar-Taj to analyze the rings and decode their origin. It's revealed that the rings are made of a matter unknown on Earth and they are thousands of years old, being created for an unknown alien race. It could be a hint for the movie Eternals (2021), where the new alien races The Eternals and The Deviants are featured, as well as the Celestials seen briefly in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
