Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (or simply Rogue One) is a 2016 American epic space opera film directed by Gareth Edwards. The screenplay by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy is from a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta. It was produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the first installment of the Star Wars anthology series and an immediate prequel to Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977). The main cast consists of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker. Set a week before A New Hope, the plot follows a group of rebels who band together to steal plans of the Death Star, the ultimate weapon of the Galactic Empire. The film also details the Rebel Alliance's first effective victory against the Empire, first referenced in A New Hopes opening crawl.

- Jimmy Smits, who had previously appeared as Bail Organa in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), was revealed to appear in the film just months before its premiere.
- Spider-Man Homecoming trailer will be debuted on 16th December 2016 along with this film release!
- The third Star Wars film to be rated PG-13.
- After Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, John Knoll heard about some of the early concepts for new Star Wars movies and wasn't impressed with any of them. He began developing his idea for this film and started talking it up to his fellow ILM employees, refining the story into a 30-minute pitch. People at ILM liked it so much that he was encouraged to bring it to 'Kathleen Kennedy', the new president of Lucasfilm. She loved the pitch and the movie was put into production.
- This is the tenth live action "Star Wars" movie so far (excluding the Holiday Special), not forgetting two Ewok TV movies.
