Pinocchio is a 2022 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Depth of Field and ImageMovers, this film is a live-action remake of Walt Disney's 1940 animated film Pinocchio, which is itself based on the 1883 Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It stars Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, and Luke Evans with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, and Lorraine Bracco in voice roles. The reimagined story follows a wooden puppet named Pinocchio (Evan Ainsworth), who is brought to life by a blue fairy (Erivo) after being crafted by an old Italian woodcarver named Geppetto (Hanks). While the role of Pinocchio's conscience Jiminy Cricket (Gordon-Levitt) attempts to guide Pinocchio in matters of right and wrong, Pinocchio encounters a host of unsavory characters in his efforts to become a real boy.

Honest John: Well, well, well. Stromboli! So that old rascal's back in town. Gideon, remember the time I tied strings on you and passed you off as a puppet?
  • Second remake to have been premiered on Disney Plus since Lady and the Tramp (2019).
  • During the Coachman's song, he says the line "All for one and one for all!" This is a well known line from The Three Musketeers. Luke Evans (The Coachman) previously played Aramis in the 2011 adaptation of The Three Musketeers.
  • The film opens with Jiminy Cricket singing a bit of "When You Wish Upon a Star", the official Disney fanfare. That song had originated in Pinocchio (1940), and was in fact that film's introduction song, sung by Jiminy.
  • Only three songs from the original 1940 film are used: "When You Wish Upon a Star", "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me)", and "I Got No Strings". The original film also included the songs "Little Wooden Head" and "Give a Little Whistle" and the reprises of "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee" and "When You Wish Upon a Star".
  • Tom Hanks and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have both played son to Sally Field, in Forrest Gump (1994) and Lincoln (2012). Hanks is also related to Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks.
