Paw Patrol: The Movie is a 2021 Canadian animated action-adventure comedy film based on the television series Paw Patrol created by Keith Chapman. It was directed by Cal Brunker, who co-wrote the screenplay with Billy Frolick and Bob Barlen from a story by Frolick. Several cast members from the main series reprised their roles, including Kingsley Marshall (voicing Marshall), Keegan Hedley (voicing Rubble), Shayle Simons (voicing Zuma), Lilly Bartlam (voicing Skye), and Ron Pardo (voicing both Cap'n Turbot and Mayor Humdinger). They are joined by Iain Armitage (voicing Chase), Marsai Martin, Yara Shahidi, Kim Kardashian, Randall Park, Dax Shepard, Jimmy Kimmel, Tyler Perry, and introducing Will Brisbin in his film debut as Ryder. In the film, Ryder and the Paw Patrol pups are called to Adventure City in order to stop the recently-elected Mayor Humdinger from wreaking havoc.

Ryder: That's enough dog slobber.
Rubble: I can't help it. I'm a bull dog. My tongue is too big.
  • According to Keegan Hedley, Cal Brunker gave Rubble a personality change from being a tough pup to a funny comic-relief character in this movie.
  • According to director Cal Brunker, Rubble has a few influences to Disney comic-relief sidekicks such as the Genie from Aladdin (1992), Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King (1994), Mushu from Mulan (1998), Dory from Finding Nemo (2003), Tow Mater from Cars (2006), and Olaf from Frozen (2013).
  • When Ryder goes to the grocery store to post a missing dog flyer, we see flyers for each dog that we encounter throughout the rest of the film.
  • This is the second time Paw Patrol has shown how one of the members joined the team. In the show, a segment called "Pups Get A Rubble" shows how Rubble joined the team, in the movie Ryder tells the other pups how he found Chase.
  • When the fireworks are being set off (before the Paw Patrol saves the day) the kittens dance part of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" to an uptempo version of the song from The Nutcracker.
