Patricia Palmer A stage actress, she claimed, from the age of two, brunette Margaret Gibson played ingénue roles for Vitagraph in the mid-1910s, often opposite William Clifford. She was also Charles Ray's leading lady in the extant The Coward (1915) and later did two Westerns opposite the era's leading screen cowboy, William S. Hart: The Money Corral (1919) and Sand (1920). But Gibson's life away from the studios always seemed rather more dramatic than any of her film roles, a life in the fast lane that culminated with her being arrested several times for "vagrancy" (read: prostitution). The resulting headlines demanded a change of moniker and she was Patricia Palmer for the remainder of her professional career, which was mainly spent in Poverty Row productions and ended at the advent of sound. Eerily, Gibson/Palmer "confessed" on her deathbed to having murdered director William Desmond Taylor on February 1, 1922. The claim, however, has been dismissed by all leading authorities, leaving one of Hollywood's greatest mysteries unsolved.

Mini Bio (1) Patricia Palmer was born on September 14, 1894 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA as Ellla Margaret Gibson. She was an actress, known for The Hidden Law (1916), Across the Border (1922) and The Woman in the Web (1918). She died on October 21, 1964 in Hollywood, California, USA.
She reportedly confessed to murdering William Desmond Taylor on her deathbed. This would make her one of about a dozen who've made the same claim during their lives or on their deathbeds.
She began appearing on stage at the age of 12.
As Margaret Gibson, she starred in 1910's Vitagraph westerns. She came to lead a rather tumultuous private life, punctuated by several arrests for 'vagrancy' - a popular euphemism of the period for prostitution - and extortion, which necessitated her change of name to Patricia Palmer. Her alleged deathbed confession to the 1922 murder of director William Desmond Taylor has since been dismissed by the authorities.
