Mr. Ping: It doesn't mean less for me... it means more for Po.
  • Tai Lung has appeared in a way in the three films, in Kung Fu Panda (2008) he is the main antagonist, in Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) he is briefly mentioned and appeared in a flashback and in Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) Po has a toy with the figure of Tai Lung and Kai has a Chi stone with the shape of him.
  • Through the three films each villain represents a different challenge: Tai Lung is force, Lord Shen is mental and Kai is spiritual.
  • Mr. Ping mentioned that he raised Po for 20 years before he told Po he was adopted, but in Kung Fu Panda 2 Shen was banished when Po was an infant and mentioned that he waited 30 years for the moment when he came back after being banished and in Secrets of the Scroll Po was a teenager 10 years ago.
  • Initially the character designer Nicolas Marlet designed scarab jombies to serve as sidekicks to Kai, among them were some that had flame designs and ribbons like Chinese dancers.
  • Wayne Knight who voiced one of the Pandas in the Panda Village had also been in the first Kung Fu Panda (2008) film as the voice of the Enemy Chief from Po's Dream at the Start of the Film that Kai had been inspired from.
