Elijah Michael “Eli, True” Clayton Professional Video Gamer & Workplace Violence Victim

Elijah Clayton (June 19, 1996 – August 26, 2018) was an American professional video game player renowned for his skill in the Madden NFL series. Competing under the aliases "True" and "Trueboy," Clayton was recognized as one of the top players in the Madden community. He was known for his strategic gameplay and sportsmanship, earning respect from peers and fans alike.

Born in Woodland Hills, California, Elijah was the firstborn son of Erin Reid and Michael Lamont Clayton. His parents separated during his infancy, but he maintained close relationships with both. Elijah had several siblings and was described by family members as a "good man" who "didn't believe in violence" and had never even had a fistfight. He was adored by his family and all those he came in contact with.

Elijah attended Calabasas High School, where he was a standout football player, showcasing his athleticism and leadership on the field. His passion for football naturally extended to the virtual arena, where he excelled in Madden NFL tournaments. Clayton's dedication to the game and his competitive spirit led him to become a prominent figure in the esports community.

On August 26, 2018, during a Madden NFL 19 tournament at the GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville, Florida, Elijah Clayton was tragically killed in a mass shooting, committed by David Katz. He was 22 years old.
