Downton Abbey: A New Era
Downton Abbey: A New Era is a 2022 historical drama film directed by Simon Curtis from a screenplay by Julian Fellowes. It is the sequel to Downton Abbey (2019) and the second film in the Downton Abbey franchise. Set in 1928, it follows the Crawley family on a journey to the south of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess's newly inherited villa.

- Mr. Mason answers Mrs. Pattmore with the phrase "Barkis is willing" this phrase is from Charles Dicken's novel David Copperfield. Both Dame Maggie Smith starred as Betsey Trotwood and Imelda Staunton starred as Mrs. Micawber the 1999 version of David Copperfield.
- Lady Mary is asked to dub the talkie film lines because of her posh accent, which is a fun twist because actress Michelle Dockery has stated that when she was younger before drama school, she lost out on roles due to her Essex accent.
- Tom and Lucy's baby that they introduce to the family at the end of the movie was actually Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox's real life baby Luca.
- "A New Era" wrongly claimed "The Terror" starring May McAvoy was the first actual talking film not "The Jazz Singer" produced a year prior, though Ms. McAvoy was also in that film. It is widely acknowledged "Nights of New York" owns this honor. The actual film projector used in "The New Era" was the same used in the original 1925 "BenHur:A Tale of Christ" which had Ms.McAvoy as a leading lady. Ms. McAvoy was also in an uncredited role in the most famous 1959 version of "Ben Hur" her last film role, right after the Elvis' "Jailhouse Rock."
- Lady Mary and Jack Barker See people standing in line to watch the movie The Terror (1928), and the show is sold out. This was the second Warner Brothers "talkie." As of 2021, this film is considered "lost"; all the known prints have been lost or destroyed. Only the Vitaphone sound discs still exist, including in the collection of the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
