Defending Jacob
Defending Jacob is an American crime drama miniseries, based on the 2012 novel of the same name by William Landay, produced by Apple TV+. The series was created and written by Mark Bomback and directed by Morten Tyldum. It stars Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Betty Gabriel, Sakina Jaffrey and J.K. Simmons. It premiered on April 24, 2020, and concluded on May 29, 2020.

- J.K. Simmons plays Billy Barber, a convicted murderer. In the HBO series Oz (1997) he also played a violent inmate.
- This is the second time that Jaeden Martell played a character whose name is Jacob.
- Chris Evans and Jaeden Martell play father and son in this project. They previously appeared together in Playing It Cool (2014), playing the same character at different ages, and in Knives Out (2019) playing cousins.
- Leading man Chris Evans and original author William Landay are both from Boston (MA), Landay having served as an Assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts before becoming a writer. Evans' Andy Barber plays an assistant DA in Newton, the city in which Landay's novel takes place.
- J.K. Simmons plays Billy Barber, father of Chris Evans ' character Andy Barber. Both have starred in Marvel Cinematic Movies [MCU]. J.K. in a cameo as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019). Evans as Captain America Steve Rogers in his own movies and The Avengers films. Both actors have also played other comic book characters. Evans as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Fantastic Four (2005). Simmons as Chief Gordon in Justice League (2017).
