Dad's Army is a 2016 British war comedy film, based on the BBC television sitcom Dad's Army. It is directed by Oliver Parker and set in 1944, after the events depicted in the television series. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays an elegant German spy, posing as a journalist, reporting on the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard platoon.

  • Walker (Daniel Mays's girlfriend Daphne (Emily Atack) may suppose to be the Laura la Plaz character from the original Dad's Army (1968) television series due to the Winchester rifle Daphne uses that the series character used in her act.
  • Bill Patterson played Ali Frazer in Auf Wiedersehen pet and Private frazier
  • The setting in the movie where the Dad's Army home guard platoon was located was "Walmington-on-Sea".
  • Actors Toby Jones, who plays Captain Mainwaring),and Tom Courtney, who plays Lance Corporal Jones), have both portrayed the villain Daniel Quilp in two different filmed adaptations of Charles Dickens' "The Old Curiousity Shop". Courtney played the role in a Disney produced television film, The Old Curiosity Shop (1995), and later reprized his portrayal for a radio adaptation in 1998, while Jones played the character for a Masterpiece Classic (1971) television adaptation produced by ITV (See: The Old Curiosity Shop (2007) and Masterpiece Classic: The Old Curiosity Shop (2009)).
  • First "Dad's Army" theatrical feature film in approximately forty-five years with the last having being Dad's Army (1971). Actor Tom Courtenay, who portrays Jones in this new cinema movie version, recently starred in a theatrical feature film called 45 Years (2015) which had premiered the year before.
