Ashley McKenzie has won multiple World and European cup Gold’s, he has earned senior British Open Gold four years in a row, as well as medalling in the European U23 championships and competing in the 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics.
Known for his personality both on and off the mat, Ashley brings a refreshing character to the sport of Judo. His ambition for success is fuelled by his rough upbringing and constant battle with severe ADHD. Despite these struggles it is Ashley’s raw talent which ensures he remains recognised as one of Team GB’s best Judo stars.
Ashley first came to the forefront when he appeared in a documentary on the BBC entitled ‘The Bad Boy Olympian’ which received rave reviews leaving the British viewing public wanting to see more, hence Ashley’s inclusion as a housemate in Celebrity Big Brother. We all saw his colourful personality on full show in there and since being out of the house; Ashley has returned to his Judo roots and continues to succeed on the mat.
Ashely will be returning to our TV screens very soon accompanied by four other Olympians on the Sky Sports Mix show ‘Tough Mudder’.
Ashley is an ambassador for the charities ADDISS (ADHD charity), The British Heart Foundation, Everyman, Cancer Research UK and supports the Heart Cells Foundation too.
