Potential scheduling conflicts between “The Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire,” and the “X-Men: First Class” sequel have been resolved. With actress Jennifer Lawrence starring in both franchises, overlapping schedules would spell trouble for both Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox. However, Fox has acquiesced and will not shoot the “X-Men: First Class” sequel until January of 2013. “Catching Fire” is looking at an August-September start date, which should give Lawrence breathing room and avoid any scheduling conflicts.

Lawrence has gained global recognition as “The Hunger Games” lead character and co-winner Katniss Everdeen. Her role as the blue shape shifter Mystique in “First Class” was a key part of an ensemble of mutant characters.

The still untitled “X-Men: First Class” sequel’s storyline will further explore Magneto’s evolution from anti-hero to more of a pure villain. Also, the audience may witness the X-Men’s teacher and leader Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) transformative process in the aftermath of the crippling injuries he sustained in the first film. It’s possible Xavier’s character arc in the sequel will somewhat mirror Erik Lehnsherr’s (Michael Fassbender) in “First Class.”

The sequel to the still untitled “X-Men: First Class 2″ will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence (Some actors are in talks...). Writer/producer Simon Kinberg is penning the screenplay, while Matthew Vaughn will return to the director’s chair. The film is scheduled for a summer 2014 release.
