- This same year, Laura Dern appeared in Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) opposite Carrie Fisher. That film ended up being Fisher's final role, just as this was the last role for Miguel Ferrer. Fisher also stated that Ferrer had prepared her for her Star Wars audition.
- The Rancho Rosa moving logo in the beginning of each episode is different.
- Chris Mulkey does not reprise his role as Hank Jennings, who was reportedly stabbed to death in prison by a relative of the Renault brothers. However Mulkey does provide voice work for the audio book of The Secret History Of Twin Peaks.
- Some cast members (Catherine E. Coulson, Miguel Ferrer) died after production but before the broadcast. Harry Dean Stanton died shortly after the final episode aired.
- Naomi Watts, Robert Forster, and Patrick Fischler all previously worked with David Lynch on Mulholland Dr. (2001), which also featured Michael J. Anderson. It was also originally developed as a spin-off featuring Audrey Horne in the lead role.
