Tears of the Sun
Tears of the Sun is a 2003 American war action thriller drama film directed by Antoine Fuqua. It depicts a fictitious U.S. Navy SEAL team rescue mission amidst the 21st-century version of the civil war in Nigeria. Lieutenant A.K. Waters (Bruce Willis) commands the team sent to rescue U.S. citizen Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Monica Bellucci) before the approaching rebels reach her jungle hospital.

- Antoine Fuqua: Appears briefly as the rebel smoking a cigarette in the village battle scene.
- This is the first film to be filmed on the Nimitz Class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, Harry S Truman (CVN-75).
- Kevin Smith was originally cast to co-star with Bruce Willis as a supporting SEAL team member. Tragically, he died from head injuries sustained from a three story prop tower fall, after his last film Warriors of Virtue: The Return to Tao (2002) wrapped.
- A scene where Bruce Willis kissed Monica Belluci was shot, but deleted after a test screening.
- All the actors who played Navy SEALs had to go through a two week boot camp.
