Top Cat
Top Cat is an American animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and originally broadcast in prime time on the ABC network. It aired in a weekly evening time slot from September 27, 1961, to April 18, 1962, for a single season of 30 episodes. The show was a ratings failure in prime time, but became successful upon its time on Saturday morning television. The show also became very popular in Latin American countries (especially Mexico), and the United Kingdom.

- When the cartoon was shown on British television in the 1960s and 1970s the title was changed to Boss Cat because there was a brand of cat food named Top Cat. However, the theme song and show`s dialogue remained unchanged and contained countless mentions of "Top Cat", making the title change pointless.
- Hanna-Barbara sold the cartoon to ABC based on a drawing of the main character.
- The show was a parody of "The Phil Silvers Show" (1955), with Arnold Stang imitating Sgt Bilko`s voice for the character of Top Cat. Benny the Ball was voiced by Maurice Gosfield who played Pvt Duane Doberman in The Phil Silvers Show. Benny and Pvt Doberman both shared the same demeanor and rotund appearance.
- The character Benny the Ball was voiced by Maurice Gosfield. He also played Private Duane Doberman on "The Phil Silvers Show" (1955), which "Top Cat" was based on.
- Produced in color, but broadcast in black-and-white during the original ABC run of the show.
