- Carrie repeatedly snaps a photo whilst saying "candid", ultimately causing the shot to be staged. It isn't until she stops trying to manufacture those moments, that she actually gets the candid shots. This is mirrored in Noah's journey; by forcing a relationship, it fails, but by allowing it to naturally develop, it endures.
- John Whittington conceived of the idea after watching The Simpson's TreeHouse of Horror V, in which Homer goes to the past and, through one seemingly insignificant action, dramatically alters his future.
- The song that Noah sings once he figures out that he's in 2014, and has the chance to re-do his meeting with Avery, is "Back in Time", which features significantly in another time-travelling movie: Back To The Future.
- Noah travels back and forth in time via a photo booth. Coincidentally, Carrie, the girl he eventually ends up with, is a photographer.
- This marks the second time that Adam's character has gained a substantial amount of weight once engaged, after Modern Family.
