Traceroute
Traceroute is a 2016 Austrian-American documentary film directed by Johannes Grenzfurthner. The autobiographical documentary and road movie deals with the history, politics and impact of nerd culture. Grenzfurthner calls his film a "personal journey into the uncharted depths of nerd culture, a realm full of dangers, creatures and more or less precarious working conditions", an attempt to "chase the ghosts of nerddom's past, present and future." The film was co-produced by art group monochrom and Reisenbauer Film. It features music by Kasson Crooker, Hans Nieswandt, and many others.

- Johannes Grenzfurthner needed to digitize his old VHS home movies. He asked his old friend Robert Stachel of Austrian comedy group "maschek" for help. The group is know for using a lot of old archive footage, so Robert was happy to support Johannes.
- Johannes Grenzfurthner and his team really got lost in the desert when trying to find the entrance to the El Mirage Dry Lake.
- Director Johannes Grenzfurthner uses Pachelbel's Canon in D at least once in each of his feature films. He directly refers to this tradition in the opening lines of "Traceroute" and explains the history behind it.
- The 8-bit title sequence song is called "Crush Oberzoegersdorf" and was created by LFO DEMON for Johannes Grenzfurthner's computer game "Soviet Unterzoegersdorf: Sector 2".
- Eddie Codel (Traceroute's DOP and drone pilot) started his own film festival dedicated to drone filmmaking: Flying Robot International Drone Film Festival (FRiFF).
