The Rite
The Rite is a 2011 supernatural horror film directed by Mikael Håfström and written by Michael Petroni. It is loosely based on Matt Baglio's book The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist, which itself is based on supposedly real events as witnessed and recounted by American then-exorcist-in-training Father Gary Thomas and his experiences of being sent to Rome to be trained and work daily with veteran clergy of the practice.

Father Lucas Trevant: What is it that you believe?
Michael Kovak: That's not the devil.
Father Lucas Trevant: Does a thief or a burglar turn on the lights while he's robbing your house? No. He prefers you to believe that he's not there... like the devil!
Michael Kovak: Gets complicated when no proof of the devil is somehow proof of the devil.
- The writing on Father Lucas's wall ("Fi sydd bia fe nawr") is Welsh, and translates to "He belongs to me now". Which is what Lucas utters when he is possessed.
- Mikael Håfström attended exorcisms to prepare for directing the film. He was not allowed to witness them, but he could hear what was happening from outside the door.
- Italian actor Franco Nero was in the announced cast.
- The Kovak & Son Funeral Home is supposed to be set in Dixon, IL 61021 as seen in the letter from Italy Michael gets at the end of the movie. However the area code on the Funeral Home sign shown just prior to starts with "312" referencing Chicago's North Loop over 100 miles and nearly two hours apart.
- Shipped to theaters under the code name "Denial".
