Sarah Wallis: Are you Francis' caddy?
(Eddie nods)
Sarah Wallis: Will you give this to him?
(Gives Eddie a small silver horseshoe)
Sarah Wallis: For luck.
Eddie Lowery: (Takes it and walks away) Dames. Who needs 'em anyway?
  • While the movie ending depicted a dramatic 1 stroke win by Francis Ouimet over Harry Varden in the 18 hole playoff, in actuality it was a lopsided and dominating win by Ouimet who actually shot a 72 and won by 5 shots over Varden (77) and 6 over Ray (78).
  • Filmed at the Kanawaki Golf Club outside Montreal, Quebec, producers had the club house painted yellow for the film from its original white. Members so liked the change that they kept the color following filming.
  • Armand Laroche's final film.
  • The real Francis Ouimet and Eddie Lowery remained life long friends. When Ouimet died in 1967, Lowery was one of the pall-bearers.
