- Roseanne Barr, the original star of Roseanne (1988), revealed in an interview that her character would be killed off because of an opioid overdose.
- Juliette Lewis appears as Blue, the girlfriend of David (Johnny Galecki). They previously played siblings Audrey and Rusty Griswold in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation in 1989.
- The series was conceived after the 2018 revival of Roseanne was canceled due to a tweet posted by Roseanne Barr about Valerie Jarrett resembling a character from Planet of the Apes. She was immediately fired and in conclusion, her character was written off the franchise. However, the rest of the cast will be returning, hence the name.
- This is a spin-off of Roseanne (1988). It was conceived after Roseanne (2018) was canceled after Roseanne Barr posted a racist tweet. Because of that, it is strongly rumoured that her character will be written off of the show. However, the rest of the cast will be returning for this show, hence the name The Conners (2018).
