- The "first edition" of Homer's The Illiad used in the movie was an actual first edition of an 1884 transcription by Alexander Pope. This book was chosen by Annie Brandt, the prop master for The Boy Next Door, and the film's director, Rob Cohen.
- The UK release of The Boy Next Door was cut by two seconds to garner a 15 certificate. The edited scene (Claire gouging out Noah's eye) was reinstated for the Blu-ray and DVD release.
- Jennifer Lopez and Kristin Chenoweth are exactly one year apart in age. Kristin was born on July 24, 1968 and Jennifer was born on the same day in 1969.
