Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Picard is an American television series created by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman for the streaming service CBS All Access (later rebranded as Paramount+). It is the eighth Star Trek series and was launched in 2020 as part of Kurtzman's expanded Star Trek Universe. The series features a retired Jean-Luc Picard who has been deeply affected by the death of Data in the film Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) and the destruction of the planet Romulus in the film Star Trek (2009).

- This series ties into Star Trek (2009) in that it mentions the destruction of the planet Romulus, which caused Spock and Nero's crew to be sent back in time and create an alternate timeline for Kirk's crew. However, this series does not follow the alternate timeline established in that film (known as the "Kelvin timeline") and instead remains in the "Prime timeline" which all other Star Trek shows have been set in.
- The Chateau Picard vineyard first appeared in the episode Star Trek: The Next Generation: Family (1990). It was run by Jean-Luc Picard's brother Robert and his wife Marie, and their son Rene. Jean-Luc would learn in "Star Trek: Generations (1994)" that Robert and Rene had both been killed in an accident, leaving Jean-Luc as the last in the Picard line.
- In one scene, returning character Seven of Nine, played by actress Jeri Ryan, is forced to mercy kill one of the Borg. As part of the Borg's death, its eye would be removed by a needle-like device. James MacKinnon says, "It's a cool combination between visual effects and makeup." Once the eye is removed, the aftermath is represented by an appliance with a hollow socket. Of the gory eye socket makeup, James reveals, besides fake blood, "I always add a little banana in there, too." Banana? You bet! James says, "a few little chunks of banana with a little bit of blood" helps to create depth. He adds that bananas are also, "great for brains" and more, such as the fruit being used in wounds to represent fatty tissue. MacKinnon admits he used three bananas on Season One of Picard.
- The Romulan Raptor above the docking bay as the Romulan Warbirds leave the "reclamation facility" no longer holds the twin worlds of Romulus and Remus in its talons. No doubt because they were both destroyed by the Supernova incident in "Star Trek (2009)."
- The series takes place 35 years after Star Trek: The Next Generation: Encounter at Farpoint (1987).
