We only have one life, and it is very precious, and there's a lot we can do, and there's a lot we should do.
On her fellow former Disney Channel stars
"This year is when I really started feeling powerful. I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley (Cyrus), the Jonas Brothers, and Demi (Lovato). I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote. Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to have "Come & Get It" be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I'm glad it's taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it."
Selena Gomez talking about Taylor Swift:
"I think girls need to be more supportive of each other. I definitely agree with that. I’m all about that. Taylor has been one of those girls. We have been friends for five years. She is very strong. She doesn’t care what people think and she inspires me,"
About her dream car:
I don’t really know cars that well. I feel really lame...a BMW—that was the first nice car I got and the first person that rode in it was my grandparents.
talks about her very first car? What was that experience like for her and has her driving improved or gotten worse since she's first got it (the car)
I got my first car when I was 16 but I didn’t have a license; it was a Ford Escape and I just let it sit there for two years because I enjoyed having my mom drive me. When I was 18, I finally got my license, then I drove it. My driving has not improved. I drive slow, and I try to be safe.
On seeing Britney live:
"The Baby One More Time... concert was amazing. I sat all the way up in the nosebleeds and I could barely see her,but I remember it being the best day of my life. I had my hair in a ponytail and I knew all the words to the songs. I'll always remember it."
On her favorite moments in acting and singing:
"I love doing shoots overseas. Actually being there and feeling the environment adds a realness to the shoot. It's so easy to wear incredible, beautiful dresses and look super glamorous, because you have the power of Photoshop, but a shoot that's really stripped-down and raw is really fun to do. I was being rained on, it was freezing, I was covered in a giant sweater and my hair was all over the place. I got to just be in that moment and feel like I was there."
On her former personality traits:
"I was actually really shy as a child. My first audition did not go well. I was very awkward. It was in front of a bunch of suits at Disney and I definitely felt I blew it. It took me a long time to let go."
On her style:
“I do not give a damn what I look like, I don’t. I wish I could pay attention because Gwen Stefani, say, looks flawless. Of course, when I’m on red carpets, I’m nervous, sweaty, and weird.”
On believing in love:
“I believe in love—yes, I’m one of those girls. Most of my friends believe in love. I went out with Katy Perry last night. She’s so fun and awesome, but it’s cool to see someone older believe in love too. She is all about it, and that’s how I will always be. I believe in stories like, ‘Oh, I met him in Starbucks
On love being normal:
“To me, love is normal. Of course, you see Jay and Beyoncé and you’re like, ‘Oh, my gosh, they’re perfect for each other,’ but at the end of the day their love is just like everybody else’s love
On BFF Taylor Swift:
“We both experienced the same things at the same time. But we’ve never once talked about our industry. She just became the person I’d go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend. It’s so hard to trust girls, so I’m lucky to have her.”
On Justin Bieber, pre-reported breakup:
“I’m having fun. At the end of the day, love is such a normal thing, and everyone deals with it. Just because it’s a different lifestyle doesn’t change the meaning of what I’ve been raised on, which is fairy tales.”
On never having a Spring Break:
“I don’t think I’ve even had a spring break. I had to have someone show me how to hold a cigarette. Harmony (Korine, director of Spring Breakers) was like, ‘It’s good that you don’t know. Maybe that’s a character trait!”
To be honest, I'm quite boring! I love to go bowling and to the movies. When it comes to my wardrobe, I think I dress like a 30-year-old woman.
About Justin Bieber:
"I love him. He's been in my life a very long time!"
"I think love is blind. You don't see it, you don't hear what people are saying, or what you're saying. You don't see what you're doing. All you see is the person in front of you.
I, I love you like a love song baby...and I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat.
We're not even allowed to live our lives or make mistakes without being judged by everyone on the internet.
Before I go on stage, I drink olive oil. Its disgusting, but its good for your throat. Then I grab my band and we do vocal warm ups and dance. After that, we put our hands together and say a little prayer.
I dont look at my schedule because I would freak out, It looks like a lot on paper and it really is a lot. But its a whole lot of what I love. I just did a tour in Europe and it was really hectic. Every time I got in the car, I would ask my mom, Whats next...fans or business?
Taylor Swift has helped me through some really hard times, we talk every single day. Its kind of amazing that someone like her, who has sold millions of records, is still humble.
I have the right to live my life and I feel that I have done a good job with my position. I should be able to grow up.
ON TAYLOR LAUTNER:
“He is so sweet. Taylor has made me so happy. I didn’t know I could be that happy. You probably see it in the pictures! I’m smiling so big.
