Rachel Cunliffe is the senior associate editor of the New Statesman. She writes on politics and culture, conducts interviews, and is a regular contributor to the New Statesman Podcast. She's a feminist, Cambridge graduate and world traveller.

Rachel graduated from Cambridge with a degree in Classics, going on to complete her Masters there. She has always been passionate about feminism and social justice, blogging and getting involved in activism both within and outside of university. While at Cambridge, she wrote for The Tab on issues of feminism and sexuality, and has previously been published in DIVA Magazine. She also spoke in a debate at the Cambridge Union, proposing 'This House Believes that sex has lost all meaning', opposite porn actor Benedict Garrett and journalist Julieanne Smolinski.
Having spent six months working at a boarding school in South Korea (helping to teach Korean students Latin), she is now traveling round Asia, experiencing life a single female backpacker. She writes mainly about minority rights, issues affecting young people, and alternative approaches to relationships and sexuality, and has been an unofficial agony aunt (advice columnist without a column) for the last three years.

Rachel Cunliffe is a political journalist and broadcaster and is currently deputy online editor at the New Statesman magazine, where she is also a columnist. She was previously comment and features editor at the London business newspaper City A.M., and before that deputy editor of the digital media site Reaction, which she helped to launch. She has written for The Times, The Telegraph, The Spectator, CapX and Grazia, among others. She is a regular guest reviewing the next day’s papers on television and radio including BBC News and on Sky News.
Rachel studied Classics at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where she also completed her masters in Latin literature. She briefly taught Ancient Greek at a school in South Korea, and she retains a rather keen interest in history and the ancient world. In addition to her deep and varied expertise in domestic politics, her specialist subjects include business, societal trends, geopolitics, and inter-generational dynamics. Topics of recent talks include UK political upheaval, the future of US democracy in the post-Trump age, the economic case for an open migration policy, and why politicians are obsessed with Latin and Greek.
