I started training in martial arts when I was 7 years old. I got my first black belt at 13.

I grew up in a martial arts gym surrounded by men and boys, and I pretty much call myself a tomboy.

I fell in love with Lagertha’s character and she’s a strong person and I identify with her, so I’m not surprised other women identify with her too.
  • For the audition of Vikings, she sent her audition tape twice because she felt that she didn’t look weathered enough in the first tape. For the 2nd tape, she rubbed dirt all over her face. Overall, she had to overcome competition from thousands of actors to bag the role. It was her Skype session with writer/creator Michael Hirst that proved to be a deal breaker for her.
  • Apart from her native Ukrainian and English languages, she is also fluent in Russian, French, and Italian language.
  • At the age of 14, she was kicked out of the summer camp because of her reckless behavior.
  • In 2002, she reached the finals of the Bravo’s reality show, The It Factor. She had to overcome competition from thousands of other applicants to reach the finals of the show.
  • She opened her first martial arts school at the age of 16. By 21, she had managed to open 2 more such schools.
