Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team Guardians of the Galaxy, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is intended to be the sequel to 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and the fifteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is written and directed by James Gunn and stars an ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Kurt Russell. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Guardians travel throughout the cosmos as they help Peter Quill learn more about his true parentage.

- An uncredited Miley Cyrus provided the voice of Mainframe in the extra scene with The Ravagers. In real life, Miley Cyrus dated Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of bodybuilder, actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the former rival and best friend of Sylvester Stallone (Stakar Ogord) and Schwarzenegger starred opposite Stallone in The Expendables (2010) and it's sequel and in Escape Plan (2013). Arnold Schwarzenegger had starred opposite Michael Rooker (Yondu) in the futuristic action thriller The 6th Day (2000).
- Will Ferrell's face is seen in the end of the credits in one of the circles featuring extra special add-ins.
- Mainframe, the Artificial Intelligence Ravager almost resembles a Cyberman from the science fiction TV series Doctor Who (2005). In Doctor Who, the Cybermen are a race of cyborgs fought by the show's title protagonist The Doctor. Karen Gillan (Nebula) starred in that series as Amy Pond, companion of the Matt Smith version of The Doctor, which she played from 2010 - 2012 and again in 2013.
- This film took place three months after Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
- Nebula tries to overrun Gamora with a hijacked spaceship at the cave mouth. Later, Rocket overruns Ego by crashing the spaceship on top of him, a repeat of him overrunning Ronan the Accuser in the first Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). These gags are a homage to the helicopter hangar crash in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) where the Terminator uses a flying aircraft and overruns the T-X.
