Gilda De Bal (Mechelen, December 19, 1950) is a Flemish actress.
Gilda De Bal studied drama at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and was taught by Nand Buyl and Leo Dewals. Her fellow students were Luk De Konink, Jaak Van Assche, Tessy Moerenhout, Luk van Mello, Chris Cauwenberghs, Josse De Pauw, Magda De Winter, Luc Springuel, Tuur De Weert and René Verreth.
She started her theater career at Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg and later played mainly with Arca, then with Blauwe Maandag Compagnie (under director Luk Perceval) and Het Toneelhuis. She played four seasons with Uncle Vanja. More recently she also acted in Mefisto for ever, Wolfskers and Atropa. In addition, she also performed on stage at Het Gezelschap Van De Witte Kraai, the KNS and NTGent. Romeo and Juliet premiered at Het Toneelhuis in March 2013. In a direction by Mokhallad Rasem she takes the lead role together with her husband Vic De Wachter. The play was rerun for a second season. In the fall of 2014, August followed somewhere on the plain, a Pulitzer Prize-winning piece by Tracy Letts.
In 2004 she received the Colombina, the prize for the best supporting actress in the Dutch theater season for her role as Vanja's mother in Uncle Vanja to Chekhov. This production by Het Toneelhuis was directed by Luk Perceval.
She also had roles in multiple movies and television series.
De Bal has a daughter together with Walter Moeremans, Sarah Moeremans (° 1979). Since 1982 she has a relationship with Vic De Wachter. Her fight against cancer in the eighties means that she still regularly testifies about her illness and supports the Flemish League against Cancer.
