Sometime ago, I heard that Gene Autry had a long intimtate relationship with Gail Davis. If so, when would that have been.\\?
was wanting to know if Jackie was the only one he married and how did they meet and when did they marry and how much younger was she than him.

A few years ago I befriended Howard Christianson of Newark IL who claims to have played many a night on the WGN Radio show "barn dance". He passed on about three years ago, but he told the most memorable tale. Howard claimed that Gene Autry's first rendition of his famous Reindeer song featured RUFUS the red nosed reindeer. As Rufus does connote the color of red to many country folk, this sounds believable. The song did not sell in the original release, but with a simple makeover of the name, it became a huge success. Can anyone confirm this ???
