[first lines] James Reece: [accepts printout] Thank you, Cindy. Secretary: Welcome... James Reece: [reading] African Aid Summit prep meeting with the Foreign Minister tomorrow at noon, Summit Conference on Wednesday, G8 Undersecretary conference dinner on Thursday, and a reception for the Secretary of State Friday, sir. Ambassador Bennington: Can't you see we have more urgent matters to consider, Reece? [moves his queen] James Reece: Of course, sir. [counter moves his queen] James Reece: Check. Ambassador Bennington: Must you always be so methodical? James Reece: Well that's what you pay me for, sir. Ambassador Bennington: And you're worth every penny. But that doesn't mean I'm just going to sit here and watch you copy Fischer's ambush on Spassky back in '72.
  • The car chase was filmed on a new motorway outside of the town of Annecy which had yet to be opened to the public. Eagle-eyed viewers might be able to guess this as, in most of the shots, there is no traffic traveling in the opposite direction. The fact of not having traffic on that direction was previously justified as having the highway locked for the arrival of the diplomatic convoy.
  • Matt Monro, who sang the title song in From Russia with Love (1963) is featured briefly on the soundtrack, singing "Close to You".
  • Kelly Preston:  woman wearing sunglasses at the Eiffel Tower scene when (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) character was calling his girlfriend.
  • Both this film and From Russia with Love (1963) feature a scene where an agent must finish a game of chess after being summoned by their handlers.
  • Luc Besson:  He can be clearly seen getting out of a car and facing the camera as it moves up a line of parked cars.
