  • Although the time of year is late May and early June in the book and the movie. It was filmed from December first through March and there are lighted Christmas trees in some of the nightscapes of Seattle.
  • Brian Swardstrom (Sam Taylor-Johnson's agent) mentioned Dakota Johnson to his friend, director Luca Guadagnino, when he was searching for an actress to play Penelope in A Bigger Splash (2015). Then Guadagnino spoke to Sam because she had been working with Dakota on 'Fifty Shades of Grey', but nobody knew anything about it yet - the movie didn't even have a trailer yet and she recommended Dakota to him and he decided to cast her for his film.
