Equality is a short film by American filmmaker, Al Sutton, MD, a documentary under the genre of human rights, social issues, history and news. The film contains rare footage of the Women's Strike for Equality, the gender equality protest of August 26, 1970, where more than fifty thousand women and men gathered in New York City to show support for the feminist movement and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution which gave women the right to vote. It was organized by NOW, the National Organization for Women.

  • This was the largest protest for gender equality in U.S. history. The National Organization of Women (NOW) organized the event filmed on EQUALITY. It was a nationwide Women's Strike for Equality. Women joined together to demand equal opportunities in employment and education. There were demonstrations and rallies in more than ninety major cities and small towns across the country and over 100,000 women participated, including 50,000 who marched down Fifth Avenue in New York City, as seen in this film.
  • This protest took place on August 26, 1970, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. It was the largest protest for gender equality in U.S. history.
