I'm always jotting things down on pieces of paper. I've got pieces of paper all over my house.
  • Henley's song "The Last Worthless Evening" was inspired by an encounter with actress Michelle Pfeiffer at a party, when he tried to get her attention and she, recently divorced, blew him off. Henley has told the story live at concerts while introducing the song.
  • According to "To the Limit: The Untold Story of the Eagles", Henley's 1986 breakup with then fiancee Maren Jensen was an inspiration for many of the songs on his album "The End of the Innocence" most notably the song "Heart of the Matter." Henley's first solo album, made when they were together had been dedicated to Jensen.
  • In 1974, Henley became involved with Loree Rodkin, and the breakup of their relationship was the inspiration for the song "Wasted Time" and parts of the lyrics for "Hotel California".
  • Provided backing vocals on Bob Segers 1980 hit, Against The Wind.
  • Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000.
