"I feel so fortunate to be 22 right now and having three (grammy awards) under my belt, which is amazing.''
"Maybe best pop female vocal, I am kind of keeping my fingers crossed but you never know what is going on behind the scenes, but good bums come in all shapes and sizes''.
I hope for the best, it's great to be nominated even once in your life.
Someone who's like Angelina Jolie because she isn't scared of not being pretty. She's my favourtie actress. I'd love a role like the one she played in 'Girl, Interrupted'. I've never met her.. I'd be so nervous! And star-struck!
I wasn't expecting it (Grammy)... I'm such a newcomer among all these people.
I want to have something that's different to the way I've been portrayed. I admire Angelina Jolie - she acts tough but is still sexy.
I’ve been offered a lot but I want to stay away from romance, comedies and fluffy work. I met Stephen Spielberg at a breast cancer benefit and he explained that he’d seen me on Saturday Night Live and thought I was ready for a movie. He said, ‘You go to the ledge and are unafraid to jump off.’ That was the biggest compliment to me because he was saying I was free.
Oh my God, you guys, I seriously do not have a speech prepared whatsoever. I'm shaking right now.
I think everybody should have a great Wonderbra. There's so many ways to enhance them, everybody does it.
My inspiration, I've had many, again, starting with Julie Andrews at a young age. But, growing up, I sang Whitney Houston songs in talent shows. But, when I discovered Mariah Carey and "Vision Of Love", that was a breath of fresh air and I adored her from that moment on and idolized her. It's really amazing that in articles I've been compared to her. It's truly unbelievable because, whenever I was younger, I would ask my mom, "Do you think I'll ever be as big and sing as well as Mariah Carey?" And now that it has happened, my mom says, "I knew it would happen".
(on not having her father to walk her down the aisle at her wedding) I'm a performer. I can totally walk myself down the aisle. I just realized it would be really nice to have that male protector in your life, to have felt that your entire life, and to have that one person give you away to the next man that's going to take care of you.
It's been quite a roller-coaster ride, But I think I've grown and learned a lot about myself. In this business, it's often all about hype, record sales, and a crazy schedule of traveling, performances, and it can be easy to get lost in all that. But for me, the greatest thing is being able to interact with fans and touch peoples' lives. I know that's a greater accomplishment than selling records. For that I give thanks. I simply love the job I'm doing.
Power is making a statement about who you are.
(after winning an MTV Award for the video "Lady Marmalade, shared with singers Mya, Pink and 'Kimberly 'Lil' Kim' Jones') The big hair paid off!
I'm a risk taker and I've always been like that, especially when it comes to fashion.

Obviously, all the positives are very flattering and being compared to (Mariah Carey), and I get a lot of (Britney Spears) comparisons as well, and she's extremely talented, but we are two different artists and even when I'm doing radio interviews and stuff they want to ask me very personal questions about her and you have to be a little protective of yourself and what you say because there are so many people wanting to get you to say things and pulling you in so many directions.
It's definitely a dream come true to be recognized and to be able to sign autographs. But, it's also a lot of hard work and can be draining. If you don't know already, you will quickly learn who your real friends are.
I'm not really religious but very spiritual. I give money to this company that manufactures hearing aids on a regular basis. More people should really hear me sing. I have a gift from God.
Whatever I do, it's my business. It's not my job to parent America.
(on having kids with her husband of one year, Jordan Brotman) In five years time I'd probably like to start thinking about a child.
I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing clothes that covered my entire body.
I always wanted to have my own album released before I graduated from high school.
I want to be an all round entertainer, I want to act, make films, make albums, do whatever I can.
