I... had guys on the set who didn't like me... they weren't interested in the cold character.
  • Catherine has received the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ Oscar nominations for playing Maxine Lund in Being John Malkovich (1999) and the author Harper Lee in Capote (2005).
  • She is often confused with the actress and ex-wife of Tom Cruise, Mimi Rogers.
  • Her most notable film role is playing the author Harper Lee opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s Oscar-winning performance as Truman Capote in the biographical drama, Capote (2005). Lee, who was Capote’s lifelong best friend, refused to meet Catherine for the role and did not cooperate with the filmmakers during the film’s production. However, once the film was released, Lee reached out to Keener saying that she enjoyed the film.
  • As of 2024, 3 of her films have been Academy Award nominees for ‘Best Picture’: Capote (2005), Captain Phillips (2013), and Get Out (2017).
  • Catherine starred opposite the then-unknown Brad Pitt in one of his earlier films Johnny Suede (1991). The two have maintained a close friendship over the years, and are known to attend each other’s movie premieres frequently. Lastly, she is also good friends with Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston.
