In October 2007, she announced her engagement to Army Reserve member Shaun So. They were married on March 8, 2008. "Shaun's family is Chinese, and my family is Catholic. So we're going to do a fusion of the two cultural traditions," Chlumsky said at the Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards. In March 2013, Chlumsky announced that she is expecting their first child. Chlumsky revealed that she will be having a girl.
