Aaliyah Dana Haughton (; January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001), known mononymously as Aaliyah, was an American singer, actress, dancer, and model. She has been credited for helping to redefine contemporary R&B, pop and hip hop, earning her the nicknames the "Princess of R&B" and "Queen of Urban Pop".

- Aaliyah was considered for the role of Brenda Meeks in the film Scary Movie (2000), but she turned it down due to the character initially making fun of Brandy.
- She was illegally married in 1994 to former R&B singer R Kelly, who was also his mentor, he produced Aaliyah's debut album, Age Ain't Nothing But A Number. On the marriage certificate, her age was falsified to 25 years old. however, in 1995 the marriage was annulled
- Before her death, in addition to the Matrix films, Aaliyah was also considered to star in the films Honey (2003) and a film called Sparkle that would be produced by Whitney Houston. The role of the protagonist in Honey ended up being given to Jessica Alba, while the film Sparkle was shelved and never materialized
