Rapper Nelly has found himself at the center of a new lawsuit after bogus promoters allegedly conned event producers into handing over cash for a concert that never hit the stage.
Executives at The Loop claim they paid Capital Connections Agency (CCA) $40,000 to book the rapper for a New Year`s Eve.
In documents filed in Manhattan on Friday, executives claim the money was wired to CCA boss Durby Brandon, but Nelly was a no-show. Brandon initially denied receiving the funds, and then claimed it arrived a day late.
He maintains he kept the cash due to a breach of contract. The suit alleges "CCA is a criminal enterprise."
Executives at The Loop are suing CCA for the $40,000 booking fee and $250,000 for Nelly`s alleged "no-show," reports the New York Daily News.
