MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
What does Mick Jagger do when he's in Minneapolis? Browse a bookstore downtown, of course.
The Rolling Stones will be playing at TCF Bank Stadium on Wednesday and even thought it was two days away, Jagger went to James & Mary Laurie Booksellers at 250 3rd Avenue North on Monday afternoon. Co-owner James Laurie said Jagger said "think dry" as he left, as rain is expected during the concert.
James Laurie said his store isn't exactly a high-traffic venue, so Jagger's privacy wasn't compromised during the visit. However, this isn't the first time a noteworthy patron has come in. Laurie has seen Keanu Reeves, Matt Dillon, Katie Couric, Tori Amos, the Coen Brothers, among others, and never asks for autographs, but this is the first time he has asked to take a picture. (Which must mean Mick Jagger is really cool.)
The pair talked art, vinyl, past performances, and about a mutual acquaintance, a book dealer in New York City.
“Smart enough to be engaging, and we traveled to a lot of subjects, just one after the next," Laurie said of Jagger.
The bookstore's Facebook page detailed the visit in the following post:
“He sings "Its only rock n roll but I like it" but Mick Jagger is not just a singer as evidenced by his knowledge & interest in art, architecture, literature & music during his visit to our bookshop on Tuesday. He is also very generous with his friends. It was a pleasure having him in the shop. As he left he said "think dry" since rain is forecast for his concert on Wednesday evening.”
